Family Fun At The Barfield Bolt

Family Fun At The Barfield Bolt

The sun shone for the Barfield Bolt which was held on Saturday 10th June .

With a 10k and 5k race for adults and older children, 3k, 2k and 1k races for young athletes and a 60 metre dash for little ones this really was an event for the whole family. While the focus was very much on fun, there was fierce competition in all categories making the finish line very exciting.

Tom Laidlaw of Core4Fitness got the day off to a high energy start with warm ups for both adults and children and we were delighted that the Mayor of Farnham, Councillor Michael Hodge was able to join us for the event and to start the 10km and 5km races. The event was organised by the Barfield Friends as a community event and to raise funds for local charity, The Simon Trust. The Simon Trust supports adults with autism and is run by a former Barfield parent. The charity was set up in 2015 to help provide homes and meaningful on-site activities in Surrey for adults with severe autism and learning difficulties.

Having completed their races, runners were then able to relax and enjoy the annual Barfield School Fair with delicious and much needed refreshments. It was a lovely day and all the runners should be very proud of their achievements.
